 With a population of 200,000, the Guro live west of the Baoule on the Ivory Coast, on the shores of the Bandama, in a heterogeneous area in some places containing tree-filled savannas, in others, dense forest. The south, however, is more hospitable thanks to its agricultural resources. Even though it has better water supplies, the savanna is more sparsely populated. The Guro, belonging to the Mande group, speak a dialect close to that of the Dan, Wan, Myamu, Gban, and Yaoure. Their neighbors, the Akar and Bete, issue from the Kru group.
